San Diego Group Aids Military Personnel with PTSD

Posted by admin in .

ACVOW is a charitable group that recruits combat veteran volunteers to mentor, coach and assist our warriors in the conversion from combat, enabling them as well as their loved ones to lead successful and fulfilling lives. As many of our warriors come back from combat, they are often met with completely new mental health complications in the form of combat stress. Without dealing with their combat stress, veterans often find it challenging to readjust to a peaceful world, impacting both their education and work. When addressing PTSD , as opposed to a great many mental health care professionals, ACVOW likes to omit the D, which stands for disorder. They believe combat stress isn’t a disorder, but a typical reaction to an extremely unusual event.ACVOW was originally founded in early 2001 to help Vietnam veterans who were still battling post traumatic stress, or combat stress. Its unique characteristic is its combat veteran volunteers who’ve the exceptional familiarity with knowing what our warriors experienced. Now, quite a few ACVOW volunteers are assisting to guide and assist warriors from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
